I'd kick it old school, with an older Doc again: Stephen Fry. Total intelligence, wit, and a wicked, keen sense of humor. Can handle the comedy and the drama! No, not the looks of David Tennant, of course, but it would be a different Doctor, not another young'en. And variety is the spice of the Doctor!

Unfortunately, by necessity, it is a temporary position.

But, today, by golly, he is on my wonderful friend list.

He has just lent me his newly purchased "Fortysomething" series DVD.
